Edet brings to NEXTZON over 15 years experience in providing corporate finance, company secretarial, financial and legal advisory, credit risk assessment/management services. He commenced his career in 1990 at Guobadia & Guobadia (now The Law Union), the largest partner-led law firm in Nigeria where he rose to the level of Senior Associate Counsel. He joined Standard Trust Bank (now United Bank for Africa Plc) in 1997 as a pioneer staff where he set-up and ran the Credit Control and Loan Admin Groups respectively. He later joined STB Capital Markets Limited, an investment-banking associate of Standard Trust Bank Plc, in October 2001 as Group Head, Corporate Finance and Vice President, Financial Services & Telecoms.
Edet graduated with a Second Class Upper division from the University of Calabar in 1985 with a B.Sc. Degree in Political Science and thereafter in 1989 with distinction in Law at Second Class Upper division and was honored with seven (7) Graduation Awards including 'Best Overall Performance' and 'Best All-round Results'. He was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1990 and thereafter obtained a Masters of Law from the University of Lagos , Akoka, in 1999, where he graduated with distinction and a GPA of 4.1. His areas of expertise includes Banking & Finance Law, Foreign Investment Advisory, Commercial Law, Company/Corporate Law, Property & Investment Law, Maritime Law, International Economic Law, Secured Credit Transactions, Law of Labor Relations, Civil Litigation, Petroleum Law, Corporate Finance, Credit Risk Management, and International Maritime Mortgages transactions, to mention a few. He is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association.
Being the Chief Operating Officer and an Executive Director of NEXTZON, Edet is responsible for the day to day management of the NEXTZON group and also plays business development and management services roles in the company. He also doubles as the counsel and company secretary to the NEXTZON group and its related entities/clients. He has attended several courses and is an alumnus of the Lagos Business School Management Development Program as well as the Witts Business School ( Johannesburg , SA), Executive Management Development Programme.
Edet leads the group in mergers/acquisition projects as well as in cross border acquisitions, joint ventures and other global business combinations. He has served on boards of several successful companies in Nigeria and West Africa . |
